Contact channels
We keep the contact options short on purpose. Insurance and surety can be drowning in intake forms, support tiers, and policy-number-required phone trees. We don't run any of that. The three channels below all reach the same small underwriting team, and the team responds to all of them the same business day.
| Channel | Detail | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Phone | (800) 373-2804 | Specialty placements, urgent files, time-sensitive questions, claims notice |
| Underwriting@SuretyOne.com | Standard placements, document submission, follow-up questions, file updates | |
| Online application | erisa-bonds.com/apply | Standard plans seeking the fastest path to a quote |
Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Email submitted outside business hours is reviewed first thing the following business morning. Phone calls outside hours route to voicemail and a member of the team returns the call within four business hours of the next business day.
Office locations
Surety One, Inc. operates two physical offices supporting U.S. and territorial markets. All ERISA bond underwriting is handled out of Raleigh; the San Juan office serves Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands where local statutory requirements interact with federal ERISA rules.
- Raleigh, North Carolina
- 5 W Hargett Street, 4th Floor · Raleigh, NC 27601 · primary U.S. office; standard ERISA bond underwriting handled here.
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- 404 Av De La Constitución, #708 · San Juan, PR 00901 · territorial office; bonds for plans operating in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Walk-ins are not the fastest path to an underwriter — both offices are working underwriting environments rather than retail storefronts. Call ahead if you need to drop off documents in person.
What to expect
We do not publish artificial service-level commitments. The honest answer is what we actually do, on most days, on most files:
- Online application: minutes.Standard plan applications receive a quote on the screen as soon as the application is submitted, and the bond is issued the same business day on receipt of premium.
- Phone calls: same minute, during business hours.Calls to the toll-free line during business hours are answered live by a member of the underwriting team. Calls outside business hours route to voicemail and receive a callback within four business hours of the next business day.
- Email: same business day.Email submitted to Underwriting@SuretyOne.com is reviewed by an underwriter and acknowledged the same business day if received before 4 p.m. Eastern; the next business morning otherwise.
- Specialty placements: 1-3 business days.Files routed to specialty underwriting (prior loss, retro-dating, manuscript wording, ESOP transactions in litigation) typically receive a substantive response within one to three business days, sometimes with a brief phone conversation in the middle.
Claims notice
If you are submitting notice of a covered loss under an existing ERISA bond, do not use the online application. Reach us by phone or by email with "CLAIMS NOTICE" in the subject line, and we will route the file to claims handling on receipt.
Most ERISA bond claim denials trace back to late notice. The moment you suspect a covered loss has occurred, document the discovery date and notify the surety. You can always withdraw a claim that turns out not to be covered — you cannot resurrect a claim denied for late notice.
Notice timing matters.
The bond requires notice "as soon as practicable" after discovery, and in any event within the timeframes set by the bond form. If you suspect a covered loss, call (800) 373-2804 today rather than waiting for the file to develop.
